Keystone Advisors is looking for a Revenue Cycle Database Administrator/Reporting Analyst to support one of our healthcare clients in the Illinois Medical District in the West Loop of Chicago.

This is a 100% Remote position, but the client prefers that candidates lives within the Chicagoland area.

Summary:

The Revenue Cycle Database Administrator/Reporting Analyst will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and performance of the Revenue Cycle critical SQL Server database environments.
This role is also a key developer for our Business Intelligence (BI) content, focusing on end-to-end report and dashboard delivery using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Tableau Desktop for the Revenue Cycle.

Typical Duties:

Core Database Administration (SQL Server & SSMS)
  • Maintenance & Operations: Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances (including upgrades and patching).
  • Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor and tune database performance, including query optimization, index management, and overall server health using SSMS tools.
  • Security: Manage database security, user access, permissions, and roles in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Data Integrity & Availability: Design, implement, and test robust backup/recovery strategies and manage High Availability (HA)/Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
Business Intelligence & Data Management (Tableau & SSRS)
  • Report & Dashboard Creation: Design, develop, and deploy complex reports using SSRS and interactive dashboards/workbooks using Tableau Desktop.
  • Data Sourcing & Modeling: Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and views within SSMS to serve as high-performance data sources for both SSRS and Tableau.
  • Tableau Data Connections:
  • Establish, manage, and optimize data connections from SQL Server to Tableau, including live connections and extract configurations.
  • Manage and schedule data extracts, ensuring efficient refresh cycles and connection reliability.
  • Data Validation and Reconciliation (Daily Balancing):
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain scheduled checks to ensure daily balancing of data.
  • This involves rigorous data validation and reconciliation processes to confirm that the data copied, extracted, or loaded into the BI systems (e.g., Tableau extracts) exactly matches the original source data in the SQL Server environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies identified during the balancing process promptly.
  • BI Content Management: Manage and configure the SSRS Report Server and deploy/publish Tableau Workbooks to the Tableau Server, managing report and dashboard permissions and subscriptions.
Performance & Optimization
  • Tune T-SQL queries and optimize database structures specifically for BI workloads, focusing on fast data retrieval for reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts and Developers to optimize Tableau Workbooks and SSRS reports for user experience and performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in T-SQL development and query tuning
  • Deep practical experience with SSMS and core SQL Server DBA tasks.
  • Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing reports using SSRS.
  • Experience with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS) for data preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage data validation and reconciliation processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with data from Cerner Millenium
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards, i.e., charges, orders, adjustments, payments, HCPCS/CPT, 835 (Remittance Advice) and 837 (Claims) transaction data.
  • Experience with publishing and managing BI content on Tableau Server (excluding user provisioning)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
